SUV Drives Through Holiday Parade

A red SUV driven by a Waukesha, Wisconsin resident passed through a holiday parade. Chief Daniel Thompson, the Police Chief, reported that “more than 20 people were injured” and that “some were children.”

Chief Thompson called the incident “tragic”. He added that a Waukesha officer had “discharged his weapon in an attempt to stop the vehicle from going through the barriers.” The shooting did not injure any bystanders. Thompson stated that Waukesha PD did not believe the suspect had fired from the vehicle at this stage in the investigation.

Waukesha Police Department does have the vehicle in issue in custody. Thompson did not have any further details, but a “person of interest” is currently in custody.

Thompson stated that it was not known if the incident is connected to terrorist acts.

Steven Howard, Fire Chief, reported that “11 adults and twelve children were transported from the scene into six area hospitals.” Although some of the injured were killed, no other information was available to the families.

Additional information will be available via the City of Waukesha’s social media accounts.
