James Comey, Who Led FBI When It Spied On Trump Campaign, Gets Teaching Job At Columbia University

Published

on

It doesn’t matter what wrongs a person has committed, so long as those wrongs hurt a Republican — particularly, President Donald Trump — that person will be rewarded.

Columbia University’s law school announced this week that fired FBI director James Comey will become a senior research scholar and distinguished fellow of the Reuben Mark Initiative for Organizational Character and Leadership at Columbia Law School starting in January 2021. Comey will be teaching a seminar called “Lawyers and Leaders,” the school announced.

Comey’s experience represents a broadening of the Mark Initiative’s focus to include leadership of major public institutions, complementing existing offerings relating to corporations and law firms,” the announcement said.

The Hill reported that “Comey will take on a role as one of two ‘Leaders-in-Residence’ through the Mark Initiative’s Leader-in-Residence Program, which invites executives from government agencies, corporations and top law firms to teach classes at Columbia and share their professional experience with students through advising and engaging in other programing at the school.”

Comey has a history of high-profile, controversial decisions while in power. While there is currently an investigation into individuals who sought to bribe the White House in exchange for a pardon (there is no current information to suggest the White House was aware of the scheme), Comey back in the early 2000s took over an investigation into Clinton’s pardoning of Marc Rich, a trader whose wife donated more than $1 million to the Democratic Party, Hillary Clinton’s senate campaign, and the Clinton Library foundation before the pardon. Comey found no illegality on Clinton’s part.

Comey also was in charge of the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails during the 2016 election and gave a notorious press conference that twisted the law in order to avoid charging Hillary with a crime. During that press conference, Comey laid out extensive evidence of Hillary mishandling classified national security information, yet Comey refused to indict Hillary, deciding she needed to have “intent” in order to be indicted, something that was not required by the particular statute she violated.

Days before the 2016 election, Comey made the surprise move to reopen the investigation into Hillary’s emails, which many election experts suggested may have helped Trump win that election.

As FBI director in 2016, Comey oversaw the bureau’s Russia probe, which spied on the Trump campaign as part of its investigation into Russian interference in the election. Even though the FBI had no evidence to suggest the Trump campaign was colluding with Russia to steal the election, the bureau continued to investigate, relying on unverified opposition research paid for by Hillary’s campaign. Comey is one of several FBI agents who is being sued by Carter Page, a former Trump campaign aide who was spied on using dubious FISA warrants that violated numerous FBI procedures.

With this controversial history, Comey’s final act against Trump has earned him media praise, book deals, and speaking engagement — and now a college teaching position.

Pro-Trump Senators Go To Battle With Mitch McConnell

Published

on

Finally, the GOP has grown a spine and is standing up to the recently radicalized Mitch McConnell.

According to reports, there are several Senate Republicans who are Mitch that if he presses on in convicted Trump bin this impeachment trial, then they will no longer support him as leader.

Looks like the shoe is on the other foot Mitch!

From Breitbart

Senate Republicans are reportedly firing warning shots ahead of the looming impeachment trial for former President Trump, suggesting that they will no longer be able to support Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) as leader if he votes to convict the former president.

McConnell has yet to determine how he will vote in the upcoming Senate impeachment trial, stating in a letter earlier this month that he intends to “listen to the legal arguments when they are presented to the Senate.” His refusal to reveal his leanings and recent determination that Trump and “other powerful people” essentially “provoked” the January 6 mob have appeared to cause a bit of unease among Senate Republicans.

“If he does, I don’t know if he can stay as leader,” one unnamed senior GOP senator said, according to CNN. The senator apparently told the outlet that “several of his colleagues held similar views and asked not to be named discussing sensitive internal politics.”

Similarly, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) said he would not be able to support McConnell as leader if the Kentucky Republican voted to convict Trump.

“‘No, no, no,’ he said, adding, ‘I don’t even think we should be having a trial.’”

Lawmakers in the Democrat-led House of Representatives, including ten Republicans, voted to impeach Trump for the second time one week after the U.S. Capitol protest that occurred on January 6, accusing him of inciting the chaos that took place. Now the Senate is tasked with holding a trial, despite the fact that Trump is already out of office. However, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has already revealed that their major goal, in addition to convicting Trump, is to prevent him from ever running for office again amid fears that he will launch another presidential bid for 2024.

National Guard Troops To Be Kept In DC Until March

Published

on

A few thousand National Guard troops could end up staying in the nation’s capital until mid-March, a U.S. defense official confirms to Fox News.

The National Guard is in the process of meeting with various federal agencies to “determine their requirements” for troops to stay beyond January, the official said. Planning is underway, but no final decisions have been made, the official added.

Around 25,000 Guardsmen deployed to Washington D.C., ahead of President Biden’s inauguration after the deadly Jan. 6 siege of the U.S. Capitol where authorities were badly outnumbered by pro-Trump supporters.

The ceremony went off with only a few minor arrests. About a dozen Guard troops were removed from their posts after being vetted by the FBI, including two who made extremist statements about the event.

In a statement Thursday, the National Guard said about 7,000 troops would remain in Washington through the “end of the month.” But there is concern among some city and federal authorities that protesters might return to Washington in early March on the original presidential inauguration date, March 4.

Six southern states left the union after Abraham Lincoln was elected in November and before his inauguration in March, a period known as “Secession Winter.”

The 20th Amendment moved the inauguration to its present Jan. 20 date. Franklin D. Roosevelt was the first president sworn into office on that date when he began his second term in 1937.

Before the ratification of the 20th Amendment in 1933, the new president was not sworn until the March following the election.

Lawmakers from both political parties were fuming this week after learning that troops were forced to take rest breaks outside the Capitol. Images circulated online showing Guardsmen camped in a cold garage, which prompted bipartisan calls for an investigation.

Democrat Voters Are Already Having Buyers Remorse In Georgia

Published

on

With the Democrat Senate wins in the state, greedy Georgia voters could already feel that $2000 in their pockets. More free money just for electing Democrats. What could be simpler? Yes, they didn’t earn the money, and yes the Democrat stand on the issue was tantamount to a bribe, granted- as was the final stand of the two Republicans. But hey, now that the votes are in the $2000 is on the way, right? Wrong.

Joe Biden wants the amount to be $2000 in total, not in addition. As most Americans already have received $600, that makes the next check only for $1400. But that’s not what Democrats Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff promised and viciously campaigned on. Vote for us, they said, get the cash.

It recalls the line from Benjamin Franklin, “When the people find that they can vote themselves money that will herald the end of the republic.” Well, “the people” (such a nasty concept) have been voting themselves money since Ben’s day. So perhaps he went a little drama queen on us there. But the underlying sentiment is spot on.

FNC: “Georgia Democrats have reportedly already begun fuming over their two new senators, the Rev. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff, who were sworn in Wednesday by Vice President Kamala Harris, according to a new report. Both men narrowly won hard-fought races against Republican incumbents in the Peach State, winning control of the Senate for the Democrats in the process. But a major issue raised by critics is that President Biden espoused a coronavirus relief plan that would send $1,400 checks to many Americans – while Warnock and Ossoff campaigned on a $2,000 promise.”

“Warnock and Ossoff made it a point to endorse and exclusively say ‘$2,000 checks,’” Georgia Democrat Oscar Zaro told Mediaite. “A lot of the people in my district voted blue in the runoff for two main reasons. One: Loeffler and Perdue denying us relief during COVID while profiting millions themselves; and two, $2,000 checks.”
